Pan-Fried Garlic Tofu

Ingredients

14 oz. extra firm tofu

2 tbsp. arrowroot starch

1 tbsp. sesame oil

Sauce:

1/4th cup soy sauce or tamari

2 tbsp. water

2 tbsp. raw honey

1.5 tbsp. chilli garlic sauce

½ tsp. rice wine vinegar

2 tsp. arrowroot starch

 

Instructions

  1. Place two more paper towels on top of the tofu then put a heavy item on top to squeeze out the excess liquid. Leave for 30 minutes and halfway through, change out the paper towels.
  2. Next, slice in half then into cubes and place into a large bowl. Sprinkle arrowroot on top and gently toss with your hands to ensure all tofu pieces are covered.
  3. In a large skillet, add sesame oil and heat. Add the tofu to the skillet and let brown on all sides.In the meantime, whisk together the ingredients for the sauce.
  4. Once the tofu has browned and crisped up on all sides, add the sauce to the skillet and it should start to thicken immediately. Toss the tofu around to coat then remove from heat.
  5. Serve with rice and enjoy!
